SoundBoost FAQ

Our free stem splitter separates a song into Vocals, Drums, Bass and Other, plus a generated Metronome track. Mute the vocals for karaoke, solo the bass to learn a line, or mute the drums and play along. Guitar, piano and the remaining instruments share the Other stem in the free standard mode.

The magic happens through AI that's been trained to recognize what makes a kick drum sound like a kick drum (and not a bass note). The result? Clean, studio-quality stems you can actually use.

You can remove vocals from any song and keep both parts: the instrumental and the acapella. The voice remover works in three steps:

1. Upload your song or paste a YouTube or SoundCloud link.

2. The AI separates the song into Vocals, Drums, Bass and Other, and generates a metronome track.

3. In SoundBoost Studio, mute the vocals to hear the instrumental or solo them for the acapella. Listening and practice are always free; MP3 stem downloads have a separate rolling 24-hour allowance.

Yes. Used as a voice remover, it gives you the instrumental without the singer, ready for karaoke, covers, or practice. Solo the vocal stem instead and you have a clean acapella for remixes, samples, or mashups.

Playing that backing track or acapella inside the Studio is free. MP3 stem downloads follow the free download allowance. Saving an instrumental as a single mixed file, or exporting WAV, requires membership.

Free 5 Stem mode contains four separated audio parts: Vocals, Drums, Bass and Other. The fifth track is a generated Metronome that follows the detected beat grid. All tracks stay synced for listening and practice.

Guitar, piano, keys, synths and remaining instruments share Other. Unlimited Plus adds the optional 7 Stem mode: Vocals, Drums, Bass, Guitar, Piano and Other, plus the Metronome. You can practice guitar or piano with chords, loops, tempo and pitch controls for free without that upgrade.

Yes. Standard stem splitting and instrument practice in SoundBoost Studio are always free, with no daily or monthly upload quota and no trial expiry. Solo, mute, volume, pan, looping, tempo and pitch changes, chords with Practice Mode, lyrics and the metronome are included without a subscription.

Downloads have separate limits. Reaching a download limit does not stop you from splitting more songs or practicing for free.

There is no daily or monthly limit on standard splits or instrument practice. Each file can be up to 1.5GB and 22 minutes 30 seconds long. Split one song at a time; longer recordings need to be divided into shorter tracks.

The rolling 24-hour allowance applies to MP3 stem downloads. It does not limit uploading, listening, looping or playing along inside the Studio.

Yes! You can download MP3 stems for free on the web. Standard stem splitting and instrument practice are always free, so you can keep learning and playing every day.

Most tracks split in under a minute. We're talking seconds for the AI to work through your song, not the "go make coffee and hope it's done when you return" experience you might've had with other stem splitters.

Speed matters, but not at the cost of quality. We refused to ship until we cracked both. Your stems are ready fast and they actually sound good.

Yep. Paste a YouTube or SoundCloud link and we'll handle the rest. No need to use sketchy converter sites or hunt for downloads. Just drop the URL, and your stems start processing.

Perfect for when you hear something and immediately want to dig into how it was made, or create a backing track on the fly.

Here's where it gets fun. Your stems don't just download. They open in SoundBoost Studio, a mini-DAW right in your browser. You get per-track controls for volume, pan, solo, and mute. Loop any section by dragging across the waveform (loop points snap to the beat grid). Change the key without affecting tempo. Adjust BPM without changing pitch.

Need just the chorus? Select it and loop it for free as long as you want. You can also export the selected section: MP3 stems follow the download allowance, while a rendered mix or WAV export requires membership.

Most metronomes are dumb: they tick at one tempo and don't budge. Real songs aren't like that. Bands speed up in choruses, slow down for bridges, throw in odd time signatures. Our adaptive metronome actually listens to the track and generates a click that moves with the music.

This is huge for live musicians. Mute the drums, keep the adaptive click in your earphones, and your whole band stays locked to the original groove, even when the song breathes. No more arguments about who rushed the bridge.

Absolutely. Drag across the waveform to select exactly the section you want: a verse, a chorus, that killer 8-bar breakdown. The loop points automatically snap to the beat grid so your selection lands right on the beat, not halfway through a snare hit.

Playing the loop and practicing it inside the Studio are always free. To save it as a file, open Export: MP3 stem downloads follow the free allowance; mix and WAV exports require membership.

We accept MP3, WAV, AIFF, AAC, FLAC, ALAC, OGG, and OPUS. Files up to 1.5GB and 22 minutes 30 seconds are supported, with no daily or monthly upload quota.

Pro tip: higher quality source files = cleaner stem separation. If you've got the lossless version, use it. But a good 320kbps MP3 works great too.

Your music stays your music. Period. We don't train our AI on your uploads, we don't share files with third parties, and we don't peek at what you're working on. Every file is treated like a confidential studio session.

We built SoundBoost for musicians, and that means respecting the creative process, including keeping your unreleased demos exactly where they belong.

If you own the original track (or have permission to use it), go wild. The stems are yours to use however you want: practice, remixes, mashups, covers, production.

Just remember: separating stems doesn't transfer copyright. If you're planning something commercial with someone else's song, sort out the rights first. We give you the tools; the legal stuff is on you.

Upload your song, wait a few seconds for the split, then mute whichever part you want to play yourself. Practicing bass? Mute the bass stem and play along with the rest of the band. Learning a vocal harmony? Solo everything except the lead vocals.

Loop a difficult section, slow down without changing pitch, transpose to a comfortable key, or follow chord diagrams for guitar, ukulele and piano. Instrument practice inside the Studio is always free. Guitar and piano share Other in standard mode; separating them into dedicated channels is an optional Unlimited Plus feature.
