Free Stem Splitter for Instrument Practice

Split songs and practice for free, with no daily or monthly upload quota. What is included, how downloads work, and the dedicated Stem Splitter app for iOS and Android.

The Free Stem Splitter turns a song into separate parts you can listen to, mute and play along with. Standard splitting and instrument practice in the Studio are completely free. Upload as many songs as you want: there is no daily or monthly upload quota, no pack of practice credits to use up, and no subscription needed for the core practice tools.

In 5 Stem mode, guitar, piano and other instruments share the Other stem. You can still learn chords and practice those instruments for free. Giving guitar and piano their own separate channels is the paid 7 Stem option.

#Start a practice session

  1. Upload a song
Open the free splitter and choose an audio or video file. On the web, you can also import a YouTube or SoundCloud link. You can start as a guest; sign in to keep projects in your library. If you already have an account, open the Studio upload page.
  2. Use the free standard split
Choose 5 Stem mode at standard quality. When the stems arrive, solo a part to hear what the original musician plays, or mute Vocals, Drums or Bass to create a backing track inside the Studio.
  3. Set up your instrument
Open Chords and switch to Practice Mode for guitar, ukulele or piano diagrams. Singers can follow Lyrics and shift the pitch to match their range; bassists and drummers can solo their stem to study the groove.
  4. Loop, slow down and play along
Select a difficult section and turn on looping. Lower the tempo while you learn it, then work back toward the original speed. Adjust the other stems and metronome to build the practice mix you need.
Practice Mode follows the song with chord diagrams and is included for free. The 7 Stem and Hi-Fi options shown in this Studio screenshot are optional paid upgrades.

#Unlimited uploads, with a limit per file

There is no upload-count limit for free practice. Each stem-split upload can be up to 1.5 GB and 22 minutes 30 seconds long. Split one song at a time; cut longer recordings into shorter tracks. These are limits on an individual file, not a daily or monthly allowance of songs.

#Downloads and optional paid features

The free practice tools stay available even when a download needs membership. You can keep uploading, listening, muting stems, changing tempo and practicing in the Studio. Exporting files has separate rules:

#Get the Stem Splitter app on iOS or Android

AI Vocal Remover - Stem Splitter is our dedicated app for splitting songs and practicing on your phone or tablet. It is available for iPhone, iPad and Android, with the Studio mixer, chords, lyrics, tempo and pitch controls, and a loop editor built for touch. Standard splitting and instrument practice are free with no daily or monthly upload quota; downloads and premium separation options follow the membership rules above.

Use the web version for YouTube and SoundCloud imports or to start without an account. The mobile apps open files from your device and require sign-in. The main SoundBoost app also includes the Studio alongside mastering; Mobile apps compares the two apps.

Is instrument practice completely free?

Yes. Standard stem splitting, listening, solo and mute, looping, tempo and pitch changes, chords with Practice Mode, lyrics and the metronome are free. You can practice inside the Studio without paying or downloading anything. Dedicated guitar and piano separation, drum separation and Hi-Fi are optional paid features.

How many songs can I upload for free?

There is no daily or monthly upload quota. Each file must fit within 1.5 GB and 22 minutes 30 seconds. The rolling 24-hour allowance applies to MP3 stem downloads, not to uploading songs or practicing.

Do I need an account or a subscription?

On the web, you can start as a guest. A free account keeps your projects in your library, and sign-in is required in the mobile apps. Core splitting and practice do not require a subscription.

Can I practice guitar or piano without the paid 7 Stem mode?

Yes. Chord diagrams, looping, tempo and pitch changes work with the free standard split. Guitar and piano share the Other stem in that mode. A separate Guitar or Piano channel requires Unlimited Plus.
