The Examples showcase

The Examples button at the top right of the intake scrolls to the showcase; it is also on the public page for anyone without an account. Every film there plays in full, next to the images and the direction that made it, so you can see what a given amount of input produces. The films are untouched, straight from the engine, with no scene retaken. In your own project every scene can be retaken or reimagined.

#Reading a film

Each card carries the genre, the length, the scene count and, underneath, the inputs: the reference images as thumbnails, and a tag that says whether there was a prompt at all. Pick one and the film plays at the top with User input on the right (click any image to see it large; the direction is quoted word for word, or No prompt. when there was none) and What came out, a short account of what the engine did with it. Fan films made from other artists' songs are labelled as such.

#References steer the film

Under the rail, a few pairs put one input next to one frame of the film it made: a look named in a single line that held for every scene, a cover that became the last frame, a drawing the artist ended up living inside, a logo worn as a mask. Each pair has a Watch link that plays that film.

#What to steal from them

• One clear reference beats a moodboard. Several showcase films started from a single image.
• Say where the story ends. The films that name their final frame in the direction arrive there on the last chorus.
• A named look is a contract. Four colours and a director's name, said once, hold for the whole song.
• Photos of the artist are a character, not a reference. A face stays recognisable across a hundred scenes when the photos go in as a main character with a name.
• Genre comes from the audio. The showcase runs from indie folk to hard techno with the same engine; the pacing of the edit changed, the brief did not have to mention it.
