#What it does

Upload a song and the splitter pulls it apart into separate tracks, called stems: vocals, drums, bass, other, and with the 7-stem option, guitar and piano too. The stems land in the Studio, a lightweight multitrack mixer in the browser.

The Studio is where it gets fun. Solo the bass to learn the line, mute the vocals to make a karaoke version, slow the whole song down without changing the key, shift the key to match your voice, follow the chords with guitar or piano diagrams, read synced lyrics, and export whatever mix you end up with.

The Studio runs at studio.soundboost.ai and inside two mobile apps: the main SoundBoost app, and a standalone app called Vocal Remover - Stem Splitter for people who only want stems. The core (splitting, mixer, tempo, pitch, chords, lyrics, drum separation, export) is the same everywhere; a few things such as Voice Clean, imports and sending a mix to mastering are web only. How good is the separation?

Very good on modern, well-produced music. Dense guitar walls and reverb tails can leak a little between stems; the Hi-Fi option reduces that bleed noticeably. Vocals and drums are the strongest stems; bass is close behind.

Is it free?

Splitting and using the Studio is free, with a rolling limit on MP3 downloads for free accounts and guests, and WAV, 7 stems, Hi-Fi and drum separation on paid plans. Plans and limits spells it out.

Can I split a whole album?

One song at a time, up to 22 minutes 30 seconds each. Long live sets need to be cut first.

Is it the same as the Voice Cleaner?

Same studio, different model. Voice Clean removes noise from speech recordings and gives you a clean track plus everything it removed.
