Mastering seed
A short code that stores a complete mastering recipe: engineer, intensity, every option and the EQ curve. Copy it from one track, paste it on the next.
#What a seed is
A mastering seed is a short string of letters and numbers (something like A2pnmQN4p8LTydphb9jzN5dcroDYMW) that encodes everything a revision was rendered with: the engineer, Intensity, all eleven Revision Suite options and the six Custom EQ gains. It is not a link to your audio and it contains nothing personal. It is a recipe.
#Where to copy one
- Revision Info panel on the right of the workspace: the Mastering Seed row copies the selected revision's seed.
- Mastering A/B list: the small copy icon next to any revision name.
- Projects: the master row menu has Copy mastering seed for a finalized track.
#Where to paste one
- At upload, in the Seed / Prompt slot. The Default Revision of the new track starts from that recipe instead of from Balanced.
- In a prompt, in an existing project. Paste the seed, optionally add words after it ("...but a bit brighter"), and the engineer applies the recipe first and your request on top.
- In Bulk mastering, once for the whole batch.
#Good to know
- One seed per prompt. Two seeds in one message are rejected with a clear error.
- Seeds work with the current engines (v4 and v3.6). Very old projects made with earlier engines do not carry one.
- A seed fixes the settings, not the outcome. Different songs will still sound different; that is the mix, not the master.
- Seeds are safe to share. Send one to a collaborator and they get your recipe without access to your project.
Can I edit a seed by hand?
No, and you do not need to. Paste it, then change whatever you like in the Revision Suite; the new revision gets its own seed.
Does the seed include the reference track or the prompt text?
No. Only the resulting settings. The words that got you there stay in the project's revision names.
